Shahrat
Editorial,Graphic,Logo
Shahrat was a student magazine, used to be published at the University of Tehran, where I studied. In 2014 Shahrat ordered me a logo. It was indicated in the statement of this magazine that:
“ Shahrat is the voice of the city. Shahrat wants to tell about the beauties and uglinesses of the city. Shahrat is a magazine about the city.”
These copywriting pushed me toward a design which was inspired by folk handwriting, prevalent among previous generations in Tehran. A pop theme for this logo was aimed. I proposed to be the art director of Shahrat after a while, it was agreed and led to 2 years of voluntary cooperation with the magazine.
I designed 7 numbers with a strategy for a different layout for each number without a static visual identity. The result was 7 typography of ‘Shahr’[means city] word for covers and 7 variable layouts. Although this magazine wasn’t financially rewarding for me, it was emotionally fulfilling. The privilege of being free in designing this project made me more creative.
